Tayna Nature Reserve was the first community-managed reserve to be recognized under Democratic Republic of Congo law in the early 2000s. We partner with the locally elected management authority, Réserve des Gorilles de Tayna (RGT), to monitor Grauer’s gorillas in this biodiversity hotspot. All of our team members are hired and trained from local Tayna communities. Communities created the reserve and they continue to protect it today.
